September 2026:
Welcome to another year of thought-provoking conversation and aesthetic exploration! You will have noticed our new name: starting this year, we are now the Institute for the Arts and Humanities, a change that has been several years in the making. You can rest assured that we will continue to support our core mission with fellowships, labs, working groups, and reading groups. There will be our flagship lecture series, this year in collaboration with the Digital Humanities Center and a number of other partners across Grounds. We’ll continue with book talks and our annual Book Celebration. And we’ll be expanding our support for arts-related activities and performances. Our new Associate Director Mona Kasra will be heading the development of the Experimental Artspace, a satellite space for interdisciplinary arts residency, collaboration, and practice located in the Charlottesville community. This is in the early stages of planning and development, and we’re excited to work with faculty, staff, and students over the coming months. Please join us at one of our many events, and if you want to learn more about the work that we do, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re very much looking forward to seeing you.
Warmly,
Jack Chen, Director, and Mona Kasra, Associate Director
