This workshop will explore Bedour Alagraa's work-in-progress on how Black migration from the Mississippi Delta to the Midwest and mid-century socio-political crises catalyzed the shift from Blues to Funk, creating an aesthetic-political movement that both broke from and renewed Black indigenized knowledge systems. Cosponsored with the Modern and Contemporary Culture Workshop.
